Going through a challenging period in your life? Do you feel like God has forsaken you? You are not alone.
We all go through challenges that come in different forms. It could be seeking a job without success, waiting for a financial breakthrough, relationship and marital challenges, health issues, you name it.
The Word of God says that in life, there will be trials and tribulations, but the good thing about being His child is that all things work together for our good.
So, take courage and know that whatever hard time you are going through, it will come to pass.
Meanwhile, here are seven prayers seeking God’s strength in hard times to help you get through difficult situations.
1) Hard Time Prayer for Strength
“Loving and Everlasting Father, I am discouraged and beaten up. I am so anxious that I cannot sleep at night because of the difficult time I am going through.
I turn to You because I am desperate for help. Please show Yourself strong for me. Let me know that You care for me. Give me strength, Heavenly Father, to endure this trying period and replace my distress with peace.
Thank You for hearing my cry, Amen.”
Read this powerful message from Psalm 46 for encouragement. The Psalmist quotes in the first verse, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
We know that the Bible is God’s love letter to us, so we can always trust whatever is written in it.
As you turn to God for strength, pray with faith and an unshaken spirit. He says in the Scripture that He will help us when in need. You have no reason to doubt our Father because He never lies.
With this in mind, stay put, knowing that the Lord has not abandoned you, and He never will. He will come through for you in due time.
2) Prayer for Someone Going Through A Hard Time
“God of mercy,
I lift [person’s name] to You who needs comfort and strength in their hard times. It breaks my heart to see them suffer because of their difficult situation. They are even on the verge of losing their faith in You, Lord, due to their unchanging situation.
I beg that You would bestow mercy upon them. Give them even a ray of hope that You are there and are working to restore them.
I may not be there for them in an earthly sense, but I trust that my intercession will give them the strength and encouragement to press on.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
While you might try to be there for your special someone, whether a friend, sibling, colleague or partner, during hardships, in some cases, only God can intervene.
As humans, our limits are bound to offering encouragement, financial assistance, physical presence or praying for the person.
But only God knows what is happening inside someone’s mind and can grant divine strength and peace.
Do not get tired of praying for that person. Sometimes our prayers are what stand between them and extreme stress or depression.
You can also say this prayer for strength during difficult times.
3) Catholic Prayer to God to Help You Through This Hard Time
“Lord my God,
Grant me to trust in Your overshadowing wings in my hard times. When You are my strong identity, there is strength indeed. But to be secure in myself is a weakness.
Protect me, mighty Father, and carry me as a little child. Even to my grey-headed age, You will carry me still.
I need not fear hard times, for You are present in my suffering and will offer me peace and rest as I look forward to my home in eternity, Amen.”
St Augustine of Hippo, a great church Father, made one of the best prayers for strength and encouragement during hard times. The prayer is as effective today as it was almost 2000 years ago.
The prayer reminds us that we are the children of God, and that will never change, in good times or bad.
God always loves and protects us at all times, including in difficult moments.
We are also reminded that our challenges are fleeting compared to the promise of eternal life in Heaven, where there is no pain or suffering.
4) Encouragement Hard Time Prayer for Strength
As I start my day, I turn to You and ask for strength. I do not know what the day holds for me, but I feel encouraged knowing that all things are working together for my good.
Be my rock and guide me through as I navigate the choppy waters that I might encounter. Help me to stand tall in such tough situations that make me feel small.
Please be the light that empowers me in darkness and helps me to feel Your warm embrace all the days of my life.
I believe and trust in Your Holy name, Amen.”
It can be easy to feel encouraged in our best moments when our jobs and relationships are thriving, and we are surrounded by people who uplift us.
In challenging moments, however, feelings of loneliness and stress might make us feel distanced from God.
God clarifies that in these moments, when we feel low, He is our source of strength, lovingly guiding us toward peace.
He tells us through His Word in Psalm 50:15 that when we call upon Him on the day of trouble, He will rescue us, and we will honor Him.
Let us be encouraged that in our worst weak moments, the Lord is ready to walk with us. His divine presence and the strength He provides can take unexpected forms.
You can also say a prayer for inner peace and calm.
5) Miracle Prayer to Give You Strength and Guidance
“God of all creations, I feel lost and lonely, but Your Holy Scripture reminds me that You will always guide me. You strengthen and direct me in every moment of my life.
Help me to adhere to Your ways when I feel frustrated. Help me to experience joy in all circumstances. Let me be like the thriving trees planted by the waters, which are deeply rooted in Your love.
Whatever I do today, I look forward to receiving a miracle from You as You have promised to care for me. In Your name, I pray, Amen.”
When we pray to God for guidance and strength, our words don’t need need to be flawless.
The Bible says in Romans 8:26 that we do not know how to pray as we ought to, but the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with tongues too deep for words.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.“
With this in mind, it is not how we say our prayers that impresses God but our faith.
Prayer offers us God’s picture and is comforted by His love when situations are not going our way.
6) Beautiful Prayer for A Family in Difficult Times
Our hearts are heavy from the difficult times we are facing. We ask that You would look upon us with mercy, take this burden from our shoulders and renew our strength and faith in Your powerful works.
Please help us remain to rest assured in Your Word and guidance during this period of family turmoil. Give us peace that surpasses all understanding.
We confess that with You on our side, we will have the courage to face this challenge gripping our family. We know that You are the greatest comforter and will soak us in relief and rejuvenation.
In Christ Jesus, we pray, Amen.”
How beautiful it is when a family prays together, particularly when situations are tough.

God sees your struggles and trials and knows the remedy to restore you to a healthy unit again.
This beautiful prayer will give you and your loved ones comfort while confidently renewing your faith in the Lord.
Mark 11:24 reminds us that whatever we ask for in prayer, we should believe that we have already received it and that it is ours.
Therefore, hold steadfast that God can remove this difficult season from your grieving household.
7) Prayer for Hope and Strength in Hard Times
“Lord, fear overcomes me as I stare into an uncertain future. These are perilous times in my life, and although I know that You are in control, I doubt and lack strength sometimes.
I do not want to perish in fear. God of mercy, please remove all fear and doubt from my heart and replace it with hope and strength.
The Gospel reminds me that faith, as little as a mustard seed, can move mountains. In such hard times when my faith is tested, I plea that You would open my spiritual eyes to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I pray and trust, Amen.”
One of the more encouraging stories in the Bible about hope and strength in hard times is the one on Job. Job was a God-fearing man who lived a righteous and Holy life.
However, God allowed Satan to bestow the harshest life challenges one could ever endure he lost all children, wealth, dignity and health.
Despite it all, Job did not curse God. He said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” — Job 1:21.
There were moments when he hated and cursed his life and would cry out to God in bitterness.
But his faith in the Almighty remained unshaken. As a result, God restored him to prosperity, blessing him with twice as much as he had before.
Let the book of Job teach you to rely on God for hope and strength in your lowest moments.
Even when the pain feels too much to handle, direct your tears to God rather than complain and grumble. The Lord came through for Job, He will come through for you too.
Say this prayer to thank God for hearing you.
